Some great news

Hi guys, sorry I have been MIA for the last week or so. It has been so flat out around here with renovations, school stuff for Bethany, work, getting Bethany ready for her dance comp this Saturday and the normal day to day stuff.

Today I got some great news. I spoke to Maureen at my local scrapbook shop, Scrap It Flaunt It, Armadale, and they have asked me to join their design team. I am so excited. I submitted an application to them when they first opened last year but I must admit my scrapbooking was not very ... ummm established LOL. Since then I have been working to enhance my technique and learn new skills and am very happy with the direction my work is now taking and finally it has paid off. I am so happy to be with a great group of lovely girls like the ladies at SIFI and I thank them very much. WOW a DT member!

I have been scrapping up a storm, working on three layouts at once but have only really got 1 completely finished. This one I completed for Totally Addicted to Sketch but also realised that I was only pearls and rhinestones away from completing it for the September Number challenge on Ready Set Scrap. So I added them and submitted them for both.

The other 2 layouts that I am working on are 2 page layouts so they take me a little longer to fiddle with.

Well, it is now 9.15pm so must log off, have ironing to do, dishes to wash and would like to do a couple more small things on my layouts.

Thanks for stopping by.

Still have the mojo

Well, I still have the scrapping mojo, with major thanks to the 52 sketches, 52 weeks website.

It has inspired me to do so many layouts that I have been planning to do but not knowing where to start. I have just finished this layout which was taken from sketch #10 of this year.

It is hard to see in the pic but on the purple cardstock is watermarked flowers, you can see them better in this close up

I am also in the middle of a 2 page layout that I am doing with another sketch that I found at http://www.littlescrapbookshop.com.au/ and also about to do another 2 page layout maybe with sketch #34 from 52 sketches.

Unfortunately, I am not getting many challenges done for Ready Set Scrap this month but I am getting a lot of old pages done that have been needing doing for the last 2-3 years so, I win some, I lose some. There are a couple of pages that I can maybe do a challenge or 2 for, will just wait and see where the mojo takes me.

Take Care, Kim

Quick catch up

Just a quick catch up. I am home from work today because Bethany has to go to the Dentist this morning and with me only working in school hours, by the time I would get to work, I would have to leave again in a couple of hours so, here's to a day off, YAY.

Still have my scrapping mojo. I found this great site only a couple of weeks ago called 52 sketches, 52 weeks. They give you a new sketch every week to have a go at and you can win great prizes. I wish I had found it ages ago with all the scrapping I need to catch up on! I love working with sketches, especially when the scrap bug decided to take a holiday because they can give you a kick start in the right direction. I have just found a sketch on there that was posted about a month or so ago that will help me with a layout I have been trying to do for over a year.

Well anyhow, I had a go at their sketch for last week, Week 35.

Unfortunately, due to the yucky weather, it didn't photograph very well. The back paper is actually a green colour. Might try and rephoto it today to get a better look.

I have also just finished this layout. It is the monthly challenge for my LSS, they also gave us a sketch and a partial kit of bits of card, buttons, brads and flowers. I have also entered this for the monthly quote challenge on Ready Set Scrap that require the use of the quote "its the little moments that make life big", lots of inking, the use of something wooded or chipboard and the use of something from around the house.

It came out a lot better than I expected.

Anyhow, this was supposed to be a quick post so will log off now and start getting my girls ready for the day.

Bye

WOW!!!!

Been very busy lately, work, sick girls and scrapping.

I realised that in my last post I forgot to upload my first ever challenge that I did for Ready Set Scrap in July. It was for a sketch challenge where they provide a sketch and you do a layout. Here's mine:

I ended up doing 3 layouts for the August challenges on RSS. There was the pink, blue and black colour challenge that I uploaded last post, I also did the word challenge where I had to use the word "Us" in the layout as well as the use of a black and white photograph(s), more than one button, circles, stitching and somethings popping off the page (like using foam etc). I did a layout of my sister and her boyfriend at her 21st birthday party:

I also went out on a limb and did a challenge that I thought was a rather difficult one for me. It was the number challenge, you had to use 1 piece of lace, 2 flowers cut from patterened paper, 3 bows, 4 hearts, 5 rhinestones and 6 or more small flowers. Here was my winning layout:

I was quite proud of how much I ended up getting done. I have done more scrapbooking in the last 2 months that I have in about a year I think.

Now for the WOW!!! of my post. I got a phone call on Thursday telling me that I won the monthly challenge at my LSS for the second month running with the layout I showed in my last post of my wedding photo. Then on Friday I found out that I won my first ever monthly challenge on Ready Set Scrap for the number challenge above. I was so stoked. I got a $15 voucher from my LSS and a $10 voucher via Ready Set Scrap. Not bad.

On the family front, the girls are getting over being sick yet again. Caitlyn got tonsilitis and then a week later Bethany got tonsilitis and conjunctivitis. Bethany had her sports day last Thursday and did very well, she came 3rd in her individual 50 metre race and then participated in 5 games and the 50m shuttle relay. She was so tired when she got home. Caitlyn got to run in the toddler race. She did 50m too but was walking by the time she reached the finish line, too cute.

I have finally set my blog up the way I like it. It looks more net and organised with an overall "scrappy" feel.

Well, must log off now, its getting late and I still have ironing and things to do. Will be back with more regular updates now that the blog is set up properly.

Bye
