Where have I been?!?!?!?!?!

Oh My, where have I been, it has been such a long time since I posted.

Well, my girls have had their end of year dance recital. We did their dress rehersal a week before (photos below) and realised that the little purple outfits needed a headpiece so 5 days before concert I was making 10 little pill box hats.

The day after I volunteered to make them I was given my first design team pack for Scrap It Flaunt It. I had 2 weeks to work with it. I was given a Halloween pack. Good thing I had taken the girls trick or treating for the first time ever so I actually had photos to use. The pack consisted of 6 patterned papers, a sheet of alpha stickers, a sheet of border stickers and a sheet of embelishments. I made a lovely little single page layout of Bethany dress as a zombie from a birthday party last year and a haunted castle chipboard album of them trick or treating, but duh, forgot to take photos of them before I gave them in so will have to nick back to the shop and take some.

Then we had Caitlyn's 3rd birthday. She seems to have grown up so fast.

Also went to the New Moon midnight screening. Finally! Was awesome and I can't wait for the next one. Took Bethany to see it 2 days later and an hour in was evacuated from the theatre because of a fire alarm so had to take her back 2 days after that for her to see the end.

And now am getting set for Christmas. Have got the tree out and half decorated. Have started putting the lights on my house (hoping to finish that in the next day or 2) and lots of pressied to buy.

So with all this, have been significantly absent from blogs and challenge sites but now that things are starting to wind down (if you can call Christmas winding down)am hoping to log back on more often (and actually get stuck into some scrapbooking).

Til next time
Bye

New video

I have just seen this and I so can't wait.

Finally....an update

Oh my goodness, where have I been??

Well since my last update, I was sick for over a week. I had 4 days off work I was that unwell. Since then I have been flat out with the girls and catching up on the work I missed as well as trying to keep on top of the housework.

I have done very little scrapbooking in the last 3 weeks but have done some. I finished a double page layout of my youngest daughters first couple of days

I have also been trying to finish layouts that I have started but never finished. The next layout I started about 8 months ago. I did the left hand page and then just stopped so I made the right hand page last week. The title is Trying to take the perfect Christmas Photo

I had so many outtake photos from this shoot, I just didn't know what to do with them all. This is only a handful on the left hand side.

So now that things are starting to settle down, I am looking to jump back into my scrapping again with renewed mojo.

Until next time.

PS - Yippee I have bought my ticket for the midnight session of New Moon. Only 26 sleeps to go - Yay

Good news and bad news

Wow, what a week. Started with the absolutely great and awesome news of me being invited to join the design team at Scrap It Flaunt It, then just as quickly I discovered the bad news that one of my favourite challenge sites, Ready Set Scrap had closed. This site was a great source of inspiration whenever I was stuck for an idea to jumpstart my mojo.

Next great news again, one of my other favourite sites http://outofthehatscrapchallenge.blogspot.com/ is turning 1 and offering a totally awesome prize pack to celebrate. Hop of on over and check it out, here is a pic of all the great stuff they are giving away.
And finally, some lovely ladies are starting up a new challenge blog as of 20th October. The blog is called http://aussiegirlsgonescrappin.ning.com and I can't wait for it to start. I am all signed up and ready to go.
Well, will log off now, Bethany has a big day with a dance competition tomorrow afternoon and then I am off to my crop night at SIFI. Have to get everything packed and organised tonight as I am not going to have a spare minute tomorrow.

Some great news

Hi guys, sorry I have been MIA for the last week or so. It has been so flat out around here with renovations, school stuff for Bethany, work, getting Bethany ready for her dance comp this Saturday and the normal day to day stuff.

Today I got some great news. I spoke to Maureen at my local scrapbook shop, Scrap It Flaunt It, Armadale, and they have asked me to join their design team. I am so excited. I submitted an application to them when they first opened last year but I must admit my scrapbooking was not very ... ummm established LOL. Since then I have been working to enhance my technique and learn new skills and am very happy with the direction my work is now taking and finally it has paid off. I am so happy to be with a great group of lovely girls like the ladies at SIFI and I thank them very much. WOW a DT member!

I have been scrapping up a storm, working on three layouts at once but have only really got 1 completely finished. This one I completed for Totally Addicted to Sketch but also realised that I was only pearls and rhinestones away from completing it for the September Number challenge on Ready Set Scrap. So I added them and submitted them for both.

The other 2 layouts that I am working on are 2 page layouts so they take me a little longer to fiddle with.

Well, it is now 9.15pm so must log off, have ironing to do, dishes to wash and would like to do a couple more small things on my layouts.

Thanks for stopping by.

Still have the mojo

Well, I still have the scrapping mojo, with major thanks to the 52 sketches, 52 weeks website.

It has inspired me to do so many layouts that I have been planning to do but not knowing where to start. I have just finished this layout which was taken from sketch #10 of this year.

It is hard to see in the pic but on the purple cardstock is watermarked flowers, you can see them better in this close up

I am also in the middle of a 2 page layout that I am doing with another sketch that I found at http://www.littlescrapbookshop.com.au/ and also about to do another 2 page layout maybe with sketch #34 from 52 sketches.

Unfortunately, I am not getting many challenges done for Ready Set Scrap this month but I am getting a lot of old pages done that have been needing doing for the last 2-3 years so, I win some, I lose some. There are a couple of pages that I can maybe do a challenge or 2 for, will just wait and see where the mojo takes me.

Take Care, Kim

Quick catch up

Just a quick catch up. I am home from work today because Bethany has to go to the Dentist this morning and with me only working in school hours, by the time I would get to work, I would have to leave again in a couple of hours so, here's to a day off, YAY.

Still have my scrapping mojo. I found this great site only a couple of weeks ago called 52 sketches, 52 weeks. They give you a new sketch every week to have a go at and you can win great prizes. I wish I had found it ages ago with all the scrapping I need to catch up on! I love working with sketches, especially when the scrap bug decided to take a holiday because they can give you a kick start in the right direction. I have just found a sketch on there that was posted about a month or so ago that will help me with a layout I have been trying to do for over a year.

Well anyhow, I had a go at their sketch for last week, Week 35.

Unfortunately, due to the yucky weather, it didn't photograph very well. The back paper is actually a green colour. Might try and rephoto it today to get a better look.

I have also just finished this layout. It is the monthly challenge for my LSS, they also gave us a sketch and a partial kit of bits of card, buttons, brads and flowers. I have also entered this for the monthly quote challenge on Ready Set Scrap that require the use of the quote "its the little moments that make life big", lots of inking, the use of something wooded or chipboard and the use of something from around the house.

It came out a lot better than I expected.

Anyhow, this was supposed to be a quick post so will log off now and start getting my girls ready for the day.

Bye

WOW!!!!

Been very busy lately, work, sick girls and scrapping.

I realised that in my last post I forgot to upload my first ever challenge that I did for Ready Set Scrap in July. It was for a sketch challenge where they provide a sketch and you do a layout. Here's mine:

I ended up doing 3 layouts for the August challenges on RSS. There was the pink, blue and black colour challenge that I uploaded last post, I also did the word challenge where I had to use the word "Us" in the layout as well as the use of a black and white photograph(s), more than one button, circles, stitching and somethings popping off the page (like using foam etc). I did a layout of my sister and her boyfriend at her 21st birthday party:

I also went out on a limb and did a challenge that I thought was a rather difficult one for me. It was the number challenge, you had to use 1 piece of lace, 2 flowers cut from patterened paper, 3 bows, 4 hearts, 5 rhinestones and 6 or more small flowers. Here was my winning layout:

I was quite proud of how much I ended up getting done. I have done more scrapbooking in the last 2 months that I have in about a year I think.

Now for the WOW!!! of my post. I got a phone call on Thursday telling me that I won the monthly challenge at my LSS for the second month running with the layout I showed in my last post of my wedding photo. Then on Friday I found out that I won my first ever monthly challenge on Ready Set Scrap for the number challenge above. I was so stoked. I got a $15 voucher from my LSS and a $10 voucher via Ready Set Scrap. Not bad.

On the family front, the girls are getting over being sick yet again. Caitlyn got tonsilitis and then a week later Bethany got tonsilitis and conjunctivitis. Bethany had her sports day last Thursday and did very well, she came 3rd in her individual 50 metre race and then participated in 5 games and the 50m shuttle relay. She was so tired when she got home. Caitlyn got to run in the toddler race. She did 50m too but was walking by the time she reached the finish line, too cute.

I have finally set my blog up the way I like it. It looks more net and organised with an overall "scrappy" feel.

Well, must log off now, its getting late and I still have ironing and things to do. Will be back with more regular updates now that the blog is set up properly.

Long time, no post

Geez, have only started this blog up last month and already got slack on keeping it updated. One reason is I have got heavily back into scrapbooking. I have done more scrapping in the last month that I probably had in the six months before.

Most recently I completed this layout for a challenge on Ready Set Scrap

We had to use pink, black and blue for the colours as well as flowers, chipboard and rhinestones.

Also I have done this layout for the monthly challenge for my Local Scrapbook Shop

This is the first layout I have done with any of my wedding photos.

I have also made this wall canvas as a gift for my best friend (who is also my hubby's cousin). Her dad died a few years ago and for some reason my mother in law emailed these pics to my hubby last year and I found them a few weeks ago when I was downloading our photos to my laptop.

They are all photos of when he was in the army. It is hard to see in the photo but I used crackle medium on the canvas and I tried using distress embossing powder for the first time. Here is a closeup: Well, better sign off, a thunderstorm as just started outside. Seems to happen everytime I get on here.

Be back soon.

Kim

PS - as a continuation from my last post, the christmas layout I did for the monthly challenge won. woohoo

Catching up

Well I didn't get to do an update last night, we had mega thunderstorms and didn't want to risk getting struck by lightning by going online. We have storms again tonight but there seems to be a lull at the moment.

Well where do I start. In the year or so since I stopped blogging, me weight has blown out to close to 100kg again, back to where I was when I started my weightloss journey back in January 2004.

My girls have grown in leaps and bounds. Bethany is 7 now and in year 2. She has been in the choir at school for over a year and sang at many school events including last years graduation and anzac day and this year participated in the Dale Music Festival which is choirs from all different schools in the area. She is loving dancing. She has been at her current dance school since the beginning of last year and at her end of year concert last year won the trophy for Best Junior Performer. She choose to participate in dancing competitions this year and performed her first solo in May.

Caitlyn is 2 and a half and is non stop from morning to night. She is so different to Bethany at the same age. She is so stubborn. She idolizes Bethany and always wants to do what Bethany is doing. She started doing dancing this year and loves it. She is going to be a buzzy bee in the end of year concert.

Here is a recent pic of the 2 girls taken yesterday:

On to me. I have well and truely got back into my scrapbooking since last year. I now go to regular crop nights once a month at my local scrapbook shop where a regular group of fellow scrappers get together and chat, joke and have a general good time while completing layouts. It has become a great outlet for me to have a regular get together with others outside of home. I have just completed a new layout for the shop's monthly competition but am yet to take a picture of it so will upload it tomorrow.

Mentally, the whole weight thing isn't doing wonders for me at the moment. My self esteem is at an all time low. I am copping regular comments from my inlaws regarding my size (there are other issues there too that I won't go into right now) and I have had to go out and by all new clothes because all my ones from last year don't fit anymore.

I finally decided back in March to do something for myself. I had always promised myself that once I had got to my goal weight I would get the unicorn tattoo that I always wanted. Well back in March I decided that it was going to be a long time before I got there and to stuff everyone else and go and get it anyhow. I didn't even tell Pete until after I got it done(there were consequences from that also). Anyhoo, it is all been and gone now. I don't have a picture of it now that it has all settled but I do have one that my sister took of it after I got it done:

It is on my left hand shoulder.

So there is a brief summary of where I am at the moment. I have signed up for the lovely Pauline's spring challenge to try and kickstart my weightloss although I am still recovering from a sprained ankle that I got at the beginning of June. Today is my second day without an ankle brace, so fingers crossed I might be able to start some gentle walking soon.

Better log off, the thunder has started again and I want to get this saved before the power dies.

Until later

I'm back!

I started blogging in 2004 when I joined a group of ladies who made a community for weightloss.
Over 4 years we shared the highs and lows of everyday life as well as major ups and downs like miscarriages and new babies.
In March last year I decided to take a break from the blogging world as being a working mummy of 2 energetic girls was quite time consuming but have missed the company of my online buddies. So here I am again, not only to document my trials and tribulations of trying to lose weight again but to share my passion for scrapbooking and exploits of my 2 beautiful girls.
